LG Electronics is preparing a wired video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, and a set of indoor and outdoor security cameras designed to integrate with Apple’s forthcoming home hub, according to Bloomberg and documents LG filed with the Federal Communications Commission and UL Solutions.

The LG-branded devices represent a second-party accessory strategy: Apple can help shape design, tailor features, and oversee engineering while LG builds, brands, and supports the hardware. That approach lets Apple expand its smart home ecosystem more quickly without taking on the full cost of producing a wide range of accessories.

The product list also includes a thermostat, a temperature sensor, and a floodlight camera. Apple is not mentioned in the filings, and LG asked the FCC to keep details confidential.

Several of LG’s devices support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Matter, while the smart deadbolt lock adds UWB support for close-proximity auto-unlocking.

Bloomberg reports that Apple helped develop the accessories, an arrangement that keeps much of the work under wraps while still giving Apple influence over the products’ design and features.

The LG devices will not be ready to launch for a few months after Apple’s expected October 13 introductions of the rumored home hub, a new Apple TV 4K, and a new HomePod mini.

Apple and LG have a long working relationship. Apple uses LG Display components in its devices, and the two companies previously teamed up on LG UltraFine 4K and 5K monitors made for Macs when Apple did not sell its own external displays.

LG is not widely known for smart home accessories, but it acquired a majority stake in the smart home platform Homey in 2024. Bloomberg said LG may be aiming to compete with Samsung SmartThings, Amazon Ring, Google Nest, and other smart home brands.

The filings leave several details confidential, including the full scope of Apple’s involvement and exact product specifications. For now, the documents confirm that LG is building a broader smart home hardware lineup intended to work alongside Apple’s hub.
